Why We Exist
Robert Kehoe founded Active Logic in 2014 after seeing the same pattern across enterprise software projects: promising starts derailed by junior developers, offshore miscommunication, and project managers who couldn't make technical decisions. The industry standard was to sell senior talent in the pitch and backfill with junior developers after the contract was signed. Active Logic was built as the opposite of that — a company where the team you're promised is the team that shows up.

How We Grew
The model resonated. Early clients in the Kansas City metro referred us to their networks, and the work expanded into healthcare, financial services, transportation, and defense. By 2018, we'd formalized the Director of Engineering–led delivery structure — assigning a senior technical leader to own every engagement from architecture through production. In 2023, Active Logic was recognized as #69 on the Inc. 5000 Regionals: Midwest list of fastest-growing private companies.

Where We Are Today
Over 200 projects and 40,000+ development hours later, Active Logic is a team of 30+ senior engineers serving enterprise clients from Kansas City, Miami, Nashville, Chicago, and Salt Lake City. We've expanded our capabilities to include AI and machine learning, cloud infrastructure and DevOps, and data engineering — but the model hasn't changed. Every engineer is senior. Every project has a Director of Engineering. Every client gets direct access to the people doing the work.
